The second fetish show
hosted by Lawrence fetish troupe Contra Naturam was held Thursday, May
2nd at the Bottleneck. If you weren't there, you should wish you were!
Continuing the unexpected success of the first Contra Naturam fetish
night, night #2 drew bigger crowds, had even better music, and exhibited
more confidence on the part of the troupe. By last call, fetish night
had drawn well over 100 people, coming from all walks of life. Frat
boys, art students, journalists, insurance salesmen, goths, and fetishists
all mixed jovially to create a social and excited atmosphere. Music was taken care of by Kansas City DJ, DJ Kaos, and special guest DJ Contessa from Wichita. The overall sound moved from dark and dancy to sombre and suspenseful. And what about the actual
show? Indeed, what a variety of delights Contra Naturam had to offer.
The show was conducted in two separate parts, divided by a period of
ebm and techno dancing. In the first "act" one saw flogging,
simulated self-stimulation, and shadow sex (like shadow boxing only...
sex). In the second and more intense act, the shadow sex continued in
the background, while flogging, wax play, fire play, and most daringly,
cutting. The cutting was done very carefully and with full safety precautions
by troupe member Jericho on Saphron's back. It was probably this demonstration
that excited the audience the greatest. Also before and after the troupe's time on stage was audience participation. There was UV reactive body paint, spanking, the "vampire glove" (a glove with short needles sticking out of the palm that can be gently rubbed over the body), shibari (japanese rope bondage), paint play in a children's wadding pool, and more. Many individuals in the audience gladly took part with the assistance of troupe members. I think one could ask just about anybody who attended and get positive reports.
