1. Please introduce yourself, who are The Belles and what instruments do you play in the band?

hello my name is jake, i play the drum kit.

2. Some of the members are currently in other bands (Chris and Brian in the Creature Comforts, Andrew Ashby in the String & Return,etc...) what brought all of you together for this project? And how long have you been together?

chris and i have been playing these songs for almost a year now, or maybe it has been a year now. as far as other bands go- i am in a band called safety in numbers. we have a record out, everyone should go buy it.

3. In the past few months there has been a lot of buzz about The Belles, how did you gain so much attention locally and get signed to a record label (Lakeshore Records, correct?) without ever playing a show?

i feel like chris and i have been lucky to get to make a record and then think about how to pull it off live. and i am the most glad that things are going so well live. the songs are better than they are on record, i think. as far as buzz and getting signed without playing a show and what not. i think it's the songs. i think chris wrote some great songs for this record. and hense the buzz or the record deal or whatever. it's about the jams you know?

4. Your debut album, Omerta, had an original release date of October 15, but got pushed back to next year? Why did it get pushed back?

shit happens i guess, although i am fine with the record getting pushed back. it give us these next three months to tour on it. and create a real presence for the belles. i hope.

5. For someone who has never heard your music before how would you describe your sound on this record?

pop songs with ass shakin’ grooves. i might be a bit biased about the grooves. describing music sucks. next.

6. What are your personal favorite songs on the CD, and favorite songs to play live?

i like to play them all.

7. Do you have any plans to tour in support of the new album? If so, who
will you be touring with or who would you like to tour with?

lots of touring. lots of touring. lots of touring.

The release date for “Omerta” is January 14th. For more information check www.thebelles.com
